The complete month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This month is viewed as quite fruitful for worshipping Mahadev. As per the religious beliefs, during the holy month of Sawan, Lord Shiva graces the earth with Goddess Parvati and bestows special blessings on his devotees. This is why devotees adopt different measures to please the Lord during Sawan. In 2026, the month of Sawan began on July 30, 2026. Sawan will conclude with the full moon on August 28. It’s noteworthy that the festival of Rakshabandhan, will also be celebrated on this very day.
The Mondays that fall in the month of Sawan are considered to be of paramount significance. By observing fast on Sawan Mondays, devotees achieve their desired outcomes. This year, there were four Mondays in Sawan, first of which fell on August 3rd. On Sawan Mondays, people gather up in numbers at famous Shiva temples to offer water to the Shivalinga. It is believed that performing Jalabhishek of Shivalinga on Mondays during Sawan eliminates all troubles from an individual’s life.
The last Monday of Sawan falls on August 24, 2026. Observe a fast and perform a ceremonial worship of Lord Shiva on the day. Offer water, milk, Bel leaves, dhatura, ash, lotus, cannabis and fruits to the Shivalinga. Do not forget to recite Shiva Chalisa and perform aarti on the final Monday of Sawan.
