Vijaya Ekadashi 2026: Date, Timings, and Religious Significance

Vijaya Ekadashi, one of the most auspicious Ekadashi observances in the Hindu calendar, will be observed in 2026 during the Krishna Paksha of Phalguna month. According to the Hindu Panchang, Ekadashi Tithi begins at 12:22 PM on February 12, 2026, and ends at 02:25 PM on February 13, 2026. Devotees across the country will observe the sacred fast with deep faith and devotion to seek divine blessings from Lord Vishnu.

The word Vijaya translates to “victory,” and Vijaya Ekadashi is believed to bestow success, strength, and triumph over obstacles. Scriptures mention that observing this Ekadashi vrat helps devotees overcome challenges, remove negative karmic influences, and achieve victory in both spiritual and worldly pursuits. It is also believed that sincere observance of Vijaya Ekadashi leads to prosperity, peace, and eventual liberation (moksha).

On this day, devotees wake up early, take a ritual bath, and worship Lord Vishnu with flowers, incense, lamps, and Tulsi leaves. Many observe a strict fast, refraining from grains and certain foods, while others follow a partial fast based on their capacity. Reciting Vishnu Sahasranama, Ekadashi Vrat Katha, and chanting mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu are considered especially beneficial.

Charity holds special importance during Vijaya Ekadashi. Donating food, clothes, or money to the needy is believed to multiply spiritual merit. The fast is traditionally broken on Dwadashi by offering prayers and consuming sattvic food, following proper Parana timings.

According to Hindu beliefs, even those who are unable to observe all Ekadashis are encouraged to keep Vijaya Ekadashi, as it is said to grant the same merit as performing sacred yajnas. The observance also emphasizes self-discipline, devotion, and spiritual awareness.
