In Vedic astrology, Shani Dev (Saturn) is considered the planet of karma, discipline, and life lessons. Phases like Shani Sade Sati and Shani Dhaiya are often linked with delays, emotional stress, financial challenges, and tests of patience. To face these difficult periods, worship of Lord Hanuman has been recommended in Hindu tradition for centuries, and this belief is strongly rooted in scripture.
The real reason behind Hanuman ji’s connection with Shani Dev comes from the Ramayana era and related Puranic references. Ravana, the powerful king of Lanka, once captured Shani Dev and imprisoned him to escape Saturn’s karmic influence, so that his divine aspect could not affect him. When Hanuman ji reached Lanka in search of Mata Sita, he discovered Shani Dev suffering in captivity. Out of compassion and righteousness, Hanuman ji freed Shani Dev from Ravana’s prison.
Deeply grateful, Shani Dev blessed Hanuman ji and assured him that devotees who worship Hanuman with true devotion would be protected from Saturn’s harsh effects. This divine blessing is the foundation of the belief that Hanuman ji shields his devotees during Shani Sade Sati and Dhaiya. It is not that Hanuman ji cancels karma, but he provides the strength to face karmic challenges with courage and discipline.
Astrologically, Shani Dev tests individuals through hardship to teach patience, responsibility, and humility. Hanuman ji represents fearlessness, selfless service, devotion, and inner strength, qualities that help a person pass Saturn’s tests without fear or despair. During difficult Saturn periods, people often experience self-doubt, stagnation, and emotional exhaustion. Regular worship of Hanuman ji helps calm the mind, remove negativity, and restore confidence.
Practices like chanting the Hanuman Chalisa, visiting Hanuman temples on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and living a disciplined and honest life are believed to reduce the intensity of Saturn’s influence. Worshipping Hanuman ji during challenging planetary phases brings resilience, positivity, and spiritual protection, allowing devotees to move forward with faith and inner strength.
